Dance found Claudine at the tender age of four, when her mother signed her up at the Singapore Ballet Academy. Since then, she has embarked on a journey to explore different dance styles such as Traditional Chinese Dance, Contemporary, Street Jazz and Hip Hop. During her time in NUS, she took on an active role in the varsity’s Hip Hop team, NUS Dance Blast! as Dance Captain, which eventually fuelled her passion to pursue Hip Hop Dance.
Claudine has led NUS Dance Blast! in performing for numerous productions and occasions such as the Asian Youth Games Opening Ceremony 2010, and clinched 2nd runner up in the Gatsby Styling Dance Competition 2010. Her contributions led to her nomination as ‘Student of the Year’ for NUS Tan Ean Kiam Arts Awards 2010. Claudine has also most recently co-led Orchid Park Secondary School in achieving Certificate of Accomplishment in the Singapore Youth Festival 2013.
Claudine is honoured to have been able to work with many internationally-renowned choreographers in recent years. These include Andye J, Joesar Alva, April Rodriguez and Tony Tzar, from the United States. In recent years, she has also been exposed to more professional avenues including the opportunity to choreograph and dance for local rap artist Shigga Shay for Celebrate 2013!. She also danced in The Cathay Organisation’s Recruitment Video Advertisement, Dr. Georgia Lee’s Party at Zouk, and Marina Bay Sands Weekly Flash Mobs.
In addition to performing, Claudine is also exploring the competitive realms of dance with her crew, G’ De Rellas (GDR), who emerged 1st place in the Singapore Dance Delight 2013 Preliminary round. She aspires to dance and choreograph for artistes and also to give back and inspire the next generation with her journey.
