Since she was a young girl, Melissa’s passion has always been dancing. Starting her journey with training in ballet, she pursued an education in dance, graduating with a Diploma in Dance from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA).
Throughout the years, Melissa has worked with a number of high-profile teachers such as Lim Fei Shen, the recipient of the Cultural Medallion, as well as Dr. Caren Carino, Jamal Jalil, Gillian Tan, Silvia Yong and Berd Michael Teichmann. She has also worked with overseas choreographers like Larry Clark from New York & Yvonne Ng from Canada. Melissa was a member of Ecnad Dance Company(2010-2012) & has choreographed and performed in a few of their works. More than a dancer, Melissa is also an experienced trainer; She is the resident instructor at Holy Innocent High School, and most recently led them to achieving the Certificate of Accomplishment at the Singapore Youth Festival Dance Presentation 2013. In 2012, she also co-led River Valley Primary School to achieve the Gold Award at the Singapore Youth Festival.
Melissa believes that Dance is a form of art that can mould good character, leadership skills, self-discipline and perseverance. She hopes to be more than an instructor, but also a life mentor to her students. More than anything, she believes in dancing each dance like it’s the last, and wants to spread the joy and love that dance brings to her.
