Jwayne started dancing at the age of 20 in Temasek Polytechnic Dance Ensemble (TPDE). He is currently a member of their alumni team, The Passionate Dancing Elders, and the Soka Youth Dance Crew (SYDC).
When he first began dancing, Jwayne had to overcome an initial phase of stage fright, but since then, he has come a long way and is now a confident and seasoned performer. Over the years, he has had many opportunities to dance in shows such as TPDE’s annual GEM dance productions, the annual O School Recitals, and the Marina Bay Countdown, amongst many others.
More than just a performer, Jwayne is also an accomplished choreographer and dance instructor. He was an assistant choreographer for the Chingay Parade for three years, and has choreographed items for many schools’ concerts.
Jwayne has also had many years of experience coaching dance in both primary and secondary schools. He recently led Jurong Secondary School’s dance club to attaining the Certificate of Accomplishment at this year’s Singapore Youth Festival (SYF).
Jwayne strongly believes that everyone has their own way of grooving to music, and that everyone should be themselves when they dance. This is what he wishes to impart to all his students, and his ultimate dream is to perform on or choreograph for a world stage.
